"I’ve just read out the introduction to Robert Elms"

This afternoon me and Francis Alexander from Chelsea Theatre went on the Robert Elms Show on BBC London 94.9 to discuss the forthcoming Sacred season, of which my project Culturail is a part.

Here are two versions of the interview: the full 10minute version, and a 4minute Culturail edit.

I recommend listening to both.

Repeatedly.

*Maquette

Now that the burden of proof has been lifted, I am ready to get on with my life - this morning, for instance, I built a little model* of the set for my next show Culturail.

For reasons of commercial confidentiality, I can only show you the side view:

Next week I am going on a talk/sport radio programme to discuss the merits of the project.

(By which I mean the merits of the show, not the maquette).

Hairdressing and Poetry

After an agonising hiatus, conclusive video evidence has finally emerged that I definitely did give a talk at Tate Modern quite recently about Post Avant-Garde Activism.

(Scroll down underneath the video player and hit 'Session 6: Leave the Avant-Garde Behind').

I feel vindicated.

Or vindictive.

One of the two.

On Monday Owen requested a doughtnut and a can of beer. All the doughnuts had gone, so yesterday I dropped him in a 72-hour-old cheeseburger instead. Here are the photos from high above Tottenham Court Road:

Owen reports:

"The beer was great, cheeseburger not so great".

Thanks Owen! I have still have one can of beer and three Marlboro Lights, if there're any takers.

I Like Dick

Meatspace

So today I was planning to set up an unofficial rest-stop along the route of the London Marathon, in which me and my friend Paul would hold signs reading JUST STOP, WHY TRY? and FREE DONUTS whilst handing out hamburgers, cans of beer and lit cigarettes, dangling from a fishing rod, to the passing runners.

The intervention would have been a homage to the LA Cacophony Society, who used to do the same schtick at the Los Angeles Marathon.

Unfortunately Paul had a late night, and didn't wake up until 5pm, so I had to reschedule until 2009.

As such I now have a backlog of the following:

Four McDonalds Cheeseburgers

Ten Marlboro Light Menthols

Six Melton Mowbray Pork Pies

Six cans of Heineken

Five custard filled doughnuts

If I consume all of the above I will die.

So, if any readers are in the vicinity of Studio DeDomenici, do email me and I will happily give you some of my stockpile.

Meanwhile, I'm collecting names of early-bird co-conspirators for Rest Stop 2009, so if anyone's free next April 26th, let me know!

More Torch

From James Bardolph's Blog:

"A rogue participant complete with home-made torch eagerly awaits Trevor, hoping to intercept the proceedings.

The real runner waits a little further along the road.

Trev’ makes it past the rogue runner to Denise."

Thanks James!

Latest J'accuse News..

Alexa has emailed me the following:

Thanks Alexa! But do you have photos of me and my Olympic torch?

I'm extremely disappointed by the lack of documentation thusfar.

There's no substitute for a genuine lack of preparation

This was my first torch:

It took about four hours to make, and was so accurate it was confiscated by the cops in Whitehall. Compare it to Paula Radcliffe's torch:

And this was the second one that I knocked up in 30 minutes on the way to Whitechapel - it even had a flame:

If anyone has any suggestions as to how I might go about attempting to reclaim the first torch, let me know.

Oh Christ..

I just googled "DeDomenici Effigy Burning", and found two new videos:

This is getting seriously out of hand. Please stop.

Look what I just found on Flickr

Thanks Tanya N!

The idea for Sunday's performance was that it would be primarily documented by the public.

Lots of people were taking photos, so if anyone finds any more, please send me the link, and I'll add them to the blog.

London Olympic Torch Relay

Today I braved the snow to take advantage of the inexact schedule of the London Olympic Torch Relay.

My torch was confiscated in Whitehall by the Metropolitan Police.

So I had to go and make another one in time for the procession in Whitechapel two hours later.

This performance is available for international touring, but only for the next month.

So get your chequebooks out, generous benefactors.
