Hacked to Death

I know this blog is supposed to be non-art, but www.DeDomenici.co.uk was brought down by hackers early this morning, so I'm just going to put an explanation of my new three-word artistic statement here for a bit, while I paypal 1million euros to a Russian 14-year-old.

Oh dear, that doesn't look very good, does it? Is the internet broken today? I knew I should've waited before downloading Firefox 3.

When having your photograph taken in the street for a magazine, I find it balances the power differential by taking your own picture of the photographer.

Over time, this will enable you to start your own magazine about the the fashion of fashion photographers:

Splendid.

He's in Fashion

Long-term users of DeDomenici Blog may remember that the last time I was stopped in the street by a style magazine was in 1998.

Clearly it's a once in a decade occurrence, rather like like a solar eclipse, or a terrible natural disaster:

Not only do they refer to me as posh, but they've also downgraded my age to 28.

(It's the other 28-year-olds suffering from Poor Age Image (PAI) that I feel sorry for.)

Additionally, they chopped out the interesting story about my orange shoes.

However, I am pleased with the irony of appearing in TopMan Magazine wearing a hoody purchased from H&M.

Interesting Story About My Orange Shoes.

They're manufactured by Henkee, who are the new New Balance.

The Henkee brand was established by Horace Chang, who used to make shoes for New Balance until they terminated his licence for flooding China with 450,000 unauthorised pairs of low-quality NB sneakers in the late nineties. New Balance have been trying to ban the Henkee logo ever since because it infringes their intellectual property.

Refugee Week 2008

Can you believe it's been two years since Status - my asylum seeker boyband - took to the stage for their debut gig at Refugee Week's Celebrating Sanctuary Festival?

I followed Fame Asylum with a rather more low-key performance in 2007.

And this year my contribution was even more subtle:

Just you wait until next year.

Question:

What do the following people have in common?

Benjamin Zephaniah
Maya Angelou
Margaret Mead
Ian McEwan
and
Richard DeDomenici

Answer after these images:

Yes, they are all quoted on the back of this year's Refugee Week tshirts!

It is an honour to be associated with such luminaries, and I'm sure they feel the same way.

Why not buy one of each?

Here are the DeDomenici items:

Marvelous.

I'll Get My Cousin On You.

This is a rather unflattering picture of me and my cousin Hugo.

Apparently Hugo's school recently screened my Channel 4 documentary Fame Asylum, however when Hugo mentioned that we were cousins, his claims were met with derision, incredulity and scorn by his peers.

So this is a message to Hugo's schoolmates - please do not ridicule Hugo for claiming to be my cousin.

Otherwise I will arrange for you all to sit through another screening of my documentary.
